Hanzhi Tang is a Visual Effects Supervisor with over two decades of experience at Digital Domain, where he previously served as Digital Effects Supervisor and Head of Lighting. Throughout his career, he has contributed to more than 24 feature films, earning industry recognition including a Visual Effects Society Award nomination for Outstanding Created Environment in 2012, and a 2021 HPA Award for Outstanding Visual Effects—Theatrical Feature for Marvel's Black Widow. Hanzhi supervised the visual effects for Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. Before that, he led VFX on Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), which also earned an Oscar nomination in the same category. His work on Wakanda Forever included a substantial portion of the film's climactic third act and beyond. With a deep foundation in lighting and rendering, Hanzhi brings extensive on-set experience and expertise in digital head capture and virtual production. He has applied these skills to create highly realistic digital doubles, CG avatars, and even a fully CG commercial featuring 28 distinct characters for LG. Hanzhi holds a Master of Science in Physics from Imperial College London, which underpins his ability to simulate real-world dynamics and optics in digital environments—key to his pursuit of realism in visual effects. In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, he was recently inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He remains a key member of Digital Domain's global team of visual effects professionals.
