GIL TALMI is an EMMY nominated film composer, sonic activist and recording artist with a passion for socially conscious films. Blending his traditional orchestral background with tasteful modular electronics and eclectic world music sensibilities, Talmi has created a signature sound that can be heard in many award winning productions worldwide. Some of Gil's most recent work includes original music for Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, Harry & Meghan, UNKNOWN: Cosmic Time Machine (Netflix/Story Syndicate), Baby Doe (Impact Partners/Lunamax Films), Wild Wild Space (HBO/Zero Point Zero), ALL IN: The Fight For Democracy (Amazon Studios/Story Syndicate), The Great Hack (A Netflix Original Documentary/A Noujaim Films/Othrs Production), Lead Me Home (Netflix/Actual Films), Jacinta (Hulu/Endeavor Pictures), White Noise (The Atlantic) and, Chavela (Aubin Pictures). Gil's score for Harry & Meghan (Netflix/Story Syndicate) was recently awarded the BMI Streaming and Media Award and the music for Backyard Wilderness (Archipelago Films) was nominated for Best Original Score in the 2018 GSCA Awards. In 2017, Gil's score for Chavela was nominated for Best Original Composition Feature Film Score by the Music & Sound= Awards. Gil was also nominated for a National News and Documentary Emmy Award for his work on CBS Evening News and won Best Documentary for his score for Tales Of The Waria (PBS Global Voices). Gil has scored the Peabody Award winning documentaries Between The Folds (PBS Independent Lens), Who Killed Chea Vichea? (PBS) and New Year Baby (PBS Independent Lens), winner of the Amnesty International 'Movies That Matter' Award. Talmi's 1700 square foot scoring facility with inspiring views of Manhattan is located inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard (a stone's throw away from Steiner Studios). The studio's unique location, ambiance, and state of the art equipment work together to complement the innovative, high quality scores that Talmi creates for studio and indie projects alike.
