
Nadia Hallgren is an award-winning Director and Cinematographer. Nadia shot and directed 2020's Becoming, a documentary about former First Lady Michelle Obama, which was released on Netflix and has been nominated for four Emmys including Best Director, Best Cinematographer and Best Documentary Feature. After Maria (2019), a documentary short, tells the story of three mothers displaced by Hurricane Maria. It was shortlisted for an Academy Award in 2019. Nadia won the special jury prize at SXSW 2018 for 2017's She’s the Ticket, an independent episodic series about women running for office. Her cinematography credits include the Sundance award-winner Motherland, Academy Award-nominated and Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winner Trouble the Water, and Sundance award-winner Trapped. Nadia is currently in production on a documentary on Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump who is representing the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. A native of The Bronx and a graduate of the International Center of Photography, Nadia is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
