Daniel T. Dorrance is an American production designer. Originally from Rancho Mirage, California, he attended Palm Springs High School, where he learned drafting. He went on to begin his career working in the commercial world before moving into film through a set‐building company, Scenery West, in Los Angeles. He got early experience as an assistant art director under Thomas E. Sanders. Over the course of a career spanning several decades, he has worked on large-scale productions, collaborating with high-profile directors such as Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Mann, and others. Some of the notable films he’s worked on as production designer or art director are Saving Private Ryan (1998), Collateral (2004), A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), and The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021). He is based in Rancho Mirage, where he keeps a home with his family when not working on location.
