Christian McCaffrey

Born June 7, 1996, in Castle Rock, Colorado, Christian Jackson McCaffrey descended from elite athletic lineage as the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey and Stanford soccer player Lisa Sime. He attended Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, where he broke numerous Colorado records including career total touchdowns (141) and all-purpose yards (8,845), earning back-to-back Gatorade Football Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013. McCaffrey played three seasons at Stanford, posting a breakout sophomore campaign in 2015 that established him as college football's most dynamic playmaker. He shattered Barry Sanders' NCAA record by accumulating 3,864 all-purpose yards in a single season while rushing for 2,019 yards, becoming the first Stanford player to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards. McCaffrey earned AP College Football Player of the Year honors and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting behind Alabama's Derrick Henry. During the 2016 Rose Bowl against Iowa, he became the first player in Rose Bowl history to surpass 100 yards both rushing (172) and receiving (109) while setting a bowl record with 368 all-purpose yards. The Carolina Panthers selected McCaffrey eighth overall in the 2017 NFL draft. His elite dual-threat ability—exceptional vision as a runner combined with route-running skills rivaling elite wide receivers—transformed the running back position. November 25, 2018, proved defining when McCaffrey became the first Panther to record 100 rushing yards (125) and 100 receiving yards (112) in the same game, totaling 237 yards from scrimmage. The 2019 season cemented his legacy when he joined Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk as only the third player in NFL history with 1,000 rushing yards (1,387) and 1,000 receiving yards (1,005) in the same season. Following his 2022 trade to the San Francisco 49ers, McCaffrey won the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award after leading the league with 2,023 scrimmage yards and 21 touchdowns. During Super Bowl LVIII against Kansas City, he became the first player in Super Bowl history to record 75 rushing yards and 75 receiving yards in the same game, though the 49ers fell 25-22 in overtime. After injury-plagued 2024, McCaffrey rebounded to win 2025 NFL Comeback Player of the Year. McCaffrey married Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo in June 2024, and they welcomed daughter Colette Annalise in July 2025.
