From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Paul Brickman (April 23, 1949) is an American screenwriter and film director, born in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for the film Risky Business where he served as director and screenwriter. Before transitioning to directing, Brickman began his career penning offbeat films such as The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and Jonathan Demme's Handle with Care. In 1983 he made his directorial debut with Risky Business starring Tom Cruise. In 1990 he wrote and directed Men Don't Leave starring Jessica Lange, an adaptation of the 1982 French film La Vie Continue. Brickman is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College.
