Gustavo Antonio Angarita Pantoja (Bogotá, September 2, 1942 – Bogotá, October 17, 2025) was a Colombian film, theater, and television actor, known for his performances in numerous telenovelas. He was born in Bogotá and initially studied Law and Philosophy at the National University of Colombia but did not complete his degree. His interest in acting led him to study at the School of Dramatic Arts in Bogotá, later specializing at the Université Internationale de Théâtre de Paris. He was part of the theater groups La Candelaria and Teatro Popular de Bogotá. He began his acting career on stage, performing in plays such as Richard III, The Threepenny Opera, and Tomé Panamá. His film career began with the short film Enterrar a los muertos (To Bury the Dead) in 1976, directed by Jorge Alí Triana, and he went on to appear in films such as El día que murió el silencio (The Day Silence Died), La pena máxima, Malamor, La estrategia del caracol (The Strategy of the Snail), Bolívar soy yo (Bolívar, I Am), and Tiempo de morir (A Time to Die). On television, he debuted in the telenovela Rasputín in 1979 and participated in several series and soap operas including Teatro universal, Revivamos nuestra historia, Suspenso 7:30, Historia de dos hermanos, El bazar de los idiotas, La dama del pantano, El precio del silencio, Traga maluca, La Potra Zaina, La casa de las dos palmas, Hombres, Lucerito, Almas de piedra, Un ángel llamado Azul, Luna, la heredera, En los tacones de Eva, Chepe fortuna, Bella calamidades, and ¿Quién mató a Patricia Soler?. His last television works included La de Troya 2 and Interiores. On October 17, 2025, he passed away in a clinic in Bogotá after battling cancer that worsened and metastasized, requiring palliative care during his final days.
